  • I use an eco-friendly, BPA-free epoxy resin. Each piece of jewelry has three to four layers of resin to coat and seal the delicate florals helping to preserve their beauty. I also use an acrylic sealant spray on the flowers before adding my layers of resin for an extra layer of protection.

Resin is similar in texture to clear hard plastic with a glass-like appearance. It is fairly resilient but does require minor care to ensure it stays looking its best. We provide a set of care instructions with every order.

  • We grow many of the flowers ourselves in our garden; we have roses, violas, larkspur, baby’s breath, and more.

We often forage for local wildflowers during the Spring and Summer making sure to only take a few flowers from each plant to leave plenty for local pollinators.

What we do not grow or find ourselves, we buy from small sustainable farms and florists around the Southwest.

  • The Short Answer: Yes, over time the flowers will begin to fade in color.

The Long Answer: The flowers and plants used in our jewelry are real, organic materials. All organic materials break down over time. We do our best to ensure the flowers in our jewelry will maintain their color and beauty for many years to come.

We seal the flowers with an acrylic sealant before coating them in layers of resin. The resin helps keep out moisture and air helping to protect the delicate flowers.

We recommend storing your jewelry in a cool, dry place when not in use and not leaving items in direct sun. UV light is the enemy of flowers and will cause the colors to fade prematurely.

We do offer recasting services for your jewelry for a small fee. We can replace the flowers and recast the resin within your metal jewelry frames. We will do our best to recreate the look of the original floral design. *Dependant on availability of current inventory of flowers

  • All of the metals we use in our jewelry designs are free of nickel and lead.

They are safe for most with common metals allergies. We offer affordable designs made from zinc & brass bases plated in either silver, gold, copper, or bronze.

We offer substitutions of sterling silver or 14k gold for ear wires and necklace chains for a minimal upcharge.

We will also be offering more sterling silver designs later this year. Stay tuned!

  • Minor scratches can be removed by polishing your piece with a microfiber cloth or plastic polish. If the resin in your piece has had an accident and is severely damaged though, we can repair or recast the resin for a small fee.

Please contact us at Desertdogdesignsnm@gmail.com along with a photo of the damaged item.
