The murder of Renee Good was a wake up call for many people around the country and world. Communities of color and immigrants have known for a long time the discrimination and violence brought about by ICE and it is long past time that the rest of us step up to support and protect our neighbors. We personally have many friends and family in the cities of St. Paul and Minneapolis, so I have been on edge watching the events happening in Minnesota. In an effort to help the cities I love, I wanted to create something to honor both Renee Good and the rest of the communities being terrorized by ICE and the Trump administration.
I created these pressed floral pendants with very particular flowers and imagery to symbolize both Renee and the people of Minnesota. A heart to represent love for the communities affected. A black background to represent the individuals and families who have not had their stories told, purposely hidden or forgotten. A daisy for both innocence and a symbol of grief. Forget me not flowers to never forget what ICE has done and finally black eyed susan flower petals to represent justice.
For every pendant sold, I will be donating $35 of the $40 purchase to local Minneapolis charities each week starting with the Immigrant Rapid Response Fund.
